Mera Peak is often chosen by mountaineers as the gateway to the highest mountains in the world.

Climbing to a summit over 6400 meters is not technically difficult but demanding due to the altitude.

From the top, you will admire mountains such as Everest, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, and Makalu. The trail to the base of the mountain can also be considered one of the most beautiful treks in the Himalayas.

The mountain consists of three peaks: Mera South at 6,065 meters, Mera North at 6,476 meters, and Mera Central at 6,461 meters.

Known as the "trekking peak" of the Himalayas, climbing Mera Peak offers an exciting adventure for both beginners and experienced climbers. Renowned for its straightforward climbing route and unparalleled magical views of the Himalayas.

  • Day 1:

    Kathmandu, 1400 m

    Upon arrival, a member of the Vertical Nepal team will pick you up from the airport.

    You will be accommodated in a comfortable hotel in the heart of the city, in the vibrant Thamel district. After some rest, we will gather for a welcome dinner with the whole group.

  • Day 2:

    Kathmandu, 1400 m

    After a delicious breakfast, we will show you some of the most beautiful places in the city, such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple):

    Located on a hill, the Swayambhunath stupa is one of the most iconic symbols of Kathmandu, offering spectacular views of the city. You will also visit Pashupatinath, a sacred Hindu site, where daily cremation ceremonies take place, and see sadhus, Hindu ascetics, meditating in the area.

  • Day 3:

    Kathmandu - Lukla - Paiya, 5-6 h drive, 20 min flight, 5-6 h trek, 2730 m

    Very early in the morning, we start our journey towards Ramechap by private jeep. The road winds through hills, offering magnificent mountain panoramas and views of rice fields in the valleys.

    After a few hours, we reach Ramechap, from where we will take a flight with a local airline to Lukla.

    We still have a few hours of trekking ahead of us, and our goal for today is Paiya (Chutok), where we will stay overnight.

  • Day 4:

    Paiya - Panggom, 5-6 h, 2846 m

    After some rest and a hearty breakfast, we set off.

    The trail leads through forests, small rivers, rice fields, and local villages, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscapes and mountain panoramas.

    As we ascend to higher altitudes, the terrain becomes steeper. We walk slowly, following the principle: slow and steady wins the race :)

  • Day 5:

    Panggom - Ningsow, 4-5 h, 2863 m

    Today's journey begins in Panggom.

    After a hearty breakfast, we bid farewell to this picturesque village. The trail takes us through lush forests adorned with rhododendrons and bamboo.

    As we ascend, we encounter the magnificent Pankongma La (elevation: 3,174 m), a breathtaking mountain pass that marks the divide between the Dudh Koshi and Hingku river valleys.

    Continuing our trek, we head towards Ningsow. The path unfolds before us, revealing panoramic views of the Himalayas, truly spectacular.

  • Day 6:

    Ningsow - Chhatra Khola, 7-8 h, 2800 m

    We start the day in Ningsow, a charming village surrounded by lush greenery.

    After a hearty breakfast, we set out on the trail, passing through dense rhododendron and bamboo forests.

    As we ascend, we are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks.

    Fluttering prayer flags add a spiritual touch to the landscape. Continuing our journey, we descend for a while and then ascend again to reach Ramailo Danda. From here, we are treated to incredible views of Mera Peak and the majestic Salpa mountain range.

    The air is crisp, and the anticipation of reaching our destination grows stronger. Upon reaching Chhatra Khola, we head for some rest.

  • Day 7:

    Chhatra Khola - Kothe, 6-7 h, 3691 m

    We start the day in Ningsow, a charming village surrounded by lush greenery.

    After a hearty breakfast, we set out on the trail, passing through dense rhododendron and bamboo forests. As we ascend, we are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks.

  • Day 8:

    Kothe, 3691 m

    Acclimatization Day.

    We will spend it on active rest following the principle: climb high, sleep low

  • Day 9:

    Kothe, 3691 m - Thangnang, 4358 m

    We start the day with a hearty breakfast, which will fuel us for the upcoming kilometers of trekking.

    The route from Kothe to Thangnang leads along the Hinku River through hilly terrain and larch forests.

    During the trek, you will admire beautiful views and experience the authentic atmosphere of Nepalese villages.

  • Day 10:

    Thangnang, 4358 m - Khare, 5045 m

    The route from Thangnang to Khare leads through hilly terrain and glaciers, gradually ascending deeper into the Hinku Valley towards the Mera Peak base camp.

    During the trek, you will enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountain peaks and nearby glaciers.

    After several hours, we reach Khare. The village offers magnificent views of the northern wall of Mera Peak.

  • Day 11:

    Khare, 5045 m

    Acclimatization Day.

    We will check climbing equipment, practice using ice axe and rope, make sure once again that all equipment is in perfect condition, your safety is our priority.

    Then we will head up to check everything again in practice.

  • Day 12:

    Khare, 5045 m - High Camp, 5800 m

    Filled with energy, rejuvenated and acclimatized, we set off.

    We walk along the snowy glacier, approaching the pass, one of the best parts of the trek.

    Breathtaking views of mountains rising above 7,000 m among them: Chamlang 7,290 m, Makalu 8,475 m, Baruntse 7,220 m, Everest 8,848 m, Lhotse 8,501 m, and Nuptse 7,861m.

    Continuing westward, the peaks of Ama Dablam 6,812, Cho Oyo 8,153 m above sea level. We sleep in a tent camp.

  • Day 13:

    High Camp, 5800 m - Mera Peak, 6470 m - Khare, 4900 m

    We wake up very early and set off for the summit around 2 a.m.

    We will cover the first hours of the trail by illuminating it with headlamps, step by step, at a steady pace towards our goal.

    After sunrise, the temperature will rise significantly, and we will be greeted by beautiful views.

    We continue climbing until we reach the summit. Upon arrival and the great joy of achieving our goal, we will admire the panoramic view of at least five of the world's 8,000-meter peaks: Everest 8,848.86 m, Kangchenjunga (8,586 m / 28,169 feet), Lhotse (8,516 m / 27,939 feet), Makalu (8,485 m / 27,837 feet), and Cho Oyu (8,201 m / 26,906 feet).

    We descend safely to the base and start our return journey to Khare.

  • Day 14:

    Spare Day in Case of Bad Weather

    If the weather allows for climbing on the planned Day 13, we will use the spare day for an additional descent or arrange additional sightseeing around Kathmandu.

  • Day 15:

    Khare, 5045 m - Kothe, 3600 m

    We leave the mountains behind and head downhill.

    The fatigue from the summit action will be effectively eased by the still beautiful view and significantly higher air temperature.

    We will spend tonight in Kothe.

  • Day 16:

    Kothe, 3600 m - Thuli Kharka, 4200 m

    After a meal, we set off.

    From Kothe, we begin our gentle descent to the south on the left side of the Hinku Khola. A few hours later, we will start our ascent to Thuli Kharka to the west.

    After several hours, we will arrive at the place where we will rest before tomorrow.

  • Day 17:

    Thuli Kharka, 4200 m - Lukla, 2840 m

    The last day of our adventure in the Himalayas.

    We will observe the changing landscape, from rocky vistas to lush vegetation-covered areas.

  • Day 18:

    Lukla, 2840 m - Kathmandu, 1400 m

    We catch the morning flight to Ramechap during which we will once again see the Himalayas in all their grandeur.

    After landing, we transfer to jeeps and drive to the capital, and upon arrival at the hotel, we head for rest.

  • Day 19:

    Kathmandu, 1400 m

    We will spend our last day relaxing, taking leisurely walks, and in the evening, we will meet for a farewell dinner to reminisce about our wonderful mountain adventure.

  • Day 20:

    Departure from Nepal

    Time to head back home!

    We will drive you from the hotel to the airport.

    If your flight is early in the morning, the hotel staff will prepare packed breakfast for you to enjoy while waiting for the flight.
