Island Peak is one of the most popular six-thousanders, rising to a height of 6,189 meters.

This mountain is often used by Himalayan climbers for acclimatization on the way to Mount Everest.

Island Peak lies along the route of the popular Everest Base Camp trek, which is among the most beautiful in the Himalayas.

The view from the summit is spectacular, with the highest eight-thousanders within reach. An excellent choice for beginner mountaineers.

  • Day 1:

    Kathmandu, 1410 m

A member of the Vertical Nepal team will pick you up from the airport, and after a short drive, you'll reach a comfortable hotel.

In the evening, we'll gather with the entire group for a welcome dinner.

  • Day 2:

    Kathmandu, 1410 m

After breakfast, we'll set out to explore Kathmandu.

This is the largest city in Nepal, home to many temples such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and Pashupatinath, as well as palaces including Durbar Square. We'll show you the most interesting sights.

Kathmandu is also a hub of commerce, where you can buy local handicrafts, clothing, and souvenirs, and we'll also make time for that.

  • Day 3:

    Lukla - Phakding, 3-4 hrs, 2610 m

After breakfast, we'll head to Ramechap Airport, a 5-6 hour drive away, from where we'll fly to Lukla.

We'll stop for lunch at a place with a beautiful panorama. The 20-minute flight to Lukla is a very exciting experience; under clear skies, you'll admire the Himalayan giants from a bird's-eye view, with breathtaking scenery.

Upon landing, our team will be joined by porters who will take care of your luggage for the remainder of the trip (you'll carry a small backpack with essential items).

Here begins our trek. The route from Lukla to Phakding is a picturesque stretch of trail, marking the initial stage of the journey to Everest Base Camp.

We'll pass through charming villages, green hills, and crystal-clear streams. Along the way, we'll cross wooden bridges hanging over rushing Dudh Koshi rivers, while we'll cross with modern, steel, and very safe ones.

As we descend, the views of the majestic peaks of the Himalayas surrounding you will add a magical character to the hike.

After about 8 km, we'll reach Phakding, a small village by the river, where we'll stay overnight.

  • Day 4:

    Phakding - Namche Bazaar, 5-6 hrs, 3440 m

After rest and a delicious breakfast, we set off.

The route from Phakding to Namche Bazaar is another stage of the trek to Everest Base Camp.

Starting from Phakding, we'll traverse the banks of the Dudh Koshi River, passing through charming villages and crossing characteristic hanging bridges.

As we ascend, you'll notice a change in the landscape, passing through dense pine and larch forests until we reach the village of Monjo, where we'll register our group with the Sagarmatha National Park.

Then, tackling steep climbs, we'll cross Hillary Bridge, which will take you to the other side of the river. Another ascent leads to Namche Bazaar, a picturesque town nestled in the mountain slopes.

After the more challenging terrain and about 11 km of trekking, we'll reach our destination. We'll stay overnight at a tea house run by local residents of the Khumbu Valley.

  • Day 5:

    Namche Bazaar, 3440 m

Acclimatization plays a key role in preparing for further trekking in the Everest region.

We'll spend the day actively resting and taking a gentle walk around the area to allow your body to adjust to the reduced oxygen levels at higher altitudes. During acclimatization, we'll visit the nearby Everest View Hotel viewpoint, where you'll see Everest for the first time!

Additionally, a stroll around Namche Bazaar will allow you to familiarize yourself with the culture and daily life of the local community.

The town also has souvenir shops, cafes, and restaurants, making the time spent here both practical and enjoyable. This form of acclimatization will minimize the risk of altitude sickness and better prepare you for further trekking stages.

  • Day 6:

    Namche Bazaar - Tengboche, 5-6 hrs, 3850 m

After an energetic breakfast, we'll depart from Namche, traversing terrains at various altitudes, admiring Himalayan panoramas, passing villages, and observing the local life.

During the trek, we'll pass through the viewpoint in Sanasa, then descend to the village of Phunki Thanga, where we'll cross the Dudh Koshi River.

Further steep ascents will lead us to Tengboche, where one of the most important monasteries in the region is located. We'll visit its interior! This magical place offers beautiful panoramas, and the monastery is a place of prayer and contemplation.

Tengboche is also an excellent place for acclimatization and enjoying the views of the surrounding mountains. We'll rest at a tea house and stay overnight.

  • Day 7:

    Tengboche - Dingboche, 5-6 hrs, 4410 m

We begin another day of trekking in the morning.

Leaving Tengboche, we'll descend through larch and pine forests, gaining altitude. The trail offers beautiful views of nearby mountain peaks, including the impressive Ama Dablam. The next stage involves passing through the village of Debuche, then continuing the trek towards the Imja Khola River. Crossing it, we'll climb steep slopes and reach Dingboche, situated on an open plateau.

Dingboche is one of the highest permanent settlements in the world, offering views of surrounding mountains such as Island Peak and Lhotse.

  • Day 8:

    Dingboche, 4410 m

Today, we'll stay in Dingboche for acclimatization.

Acclimatization in Dingboche is a crucial stage during the trek. We'll spend the day actively ascending local hills to gradually acclimatize the body to reduced atmospheric pressure.

It's also an excellent opportunity to enjoy spectacular views of nearby mountain peaks. We'll return for lunch and spend the evening resting.

  • Day 9:

    Dingboche - Lobuche, 5-6 hrs, 4910 m

The trek from Dingboche to Lobuche is another stage of the trek towards our goal.

The trail leads through open spaces, offering impressive views of mountains such as Ama Dablam and Island Peak. During the trek, we'll pass rocky terrain, cross the Khumbu River on one of the bridges, and ascend to the glacier remaining from the mini Khumbu glacier. Then we'll reach Dughla, where a stupa dedicated to the memory of climbers who lost their lives on the way to Mt Everest stands. Continuing the climb, we'll reach Lobuche, situated at an altitude of about 4910 meters above sea level.

  • Day 10:

    Lobuche - EBC, 8-9 hrs, 5364 m

The trail from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (EBC) is an exciting stage of the trek, leading through the high terrains of the Himalayas.

Starting from Lobuche, we'll ascend the Khumbu Glacier and climb up the valley, passing majestic mountain walls. Then we'll reach Gorak Shep at 5190m, where we'll have lunch and leave our belongings before continuing the trek to Everest Base Camp. The trail leads through rocky and sandy areas until it reaches the base camp, usually after about 3-4 hours.

At Everest Base Camp, you'll experience a unique feeling, standing in the shadow of the world's highest peak. The views of glaciers and mountain peaks are unforgettable. Everest is not visible from this location, but we'll make up for it the next day.

We'll return to Gorak Shep for the night.

  • Day 11:

    Gorak Shep - Kala Patthar, 2-3 hrs, 5545 m - Pheriche, 5-6 hrs, 4240 m

Kala Patthar, reaching approximately 5545 meters, offers some of the most spectacular views of Everest and nearby peaks.

We'll start very early. The trail leads steeply uphill. Although the climb is not too long, the terrain is demanding due to the altitude.

After about 2.5 hours, we'll reach the summit of Kala Patthar, where you'll see breathtaking sunrise over Everest, which is one of the most epic experiences in this part of the world. It's worth being prepared for a cold morning, but the views Kala Patthar offers are a reward worth every effort.

  • Day 12:

    Pheriche - Chukhung, 3-4 hrs, 4730 m

After breakfast, we'll head towards our next destination, the village of Chukhung.

At a leisurely pace, we'll arrive at our destination within 3-4 hours. We'll rest at a local guesthouse, where we'll spend the night.

  • Day 13:

Chukhung - Island Peak Base Camp, 4-5 hrs, 5240 m

We embark on an exciting day of trekking.

We'll follow the Imja Valley, with the stunning Ama Dablam accompanying our trek.

After about 4 hours, we'll reach the base of Island Peak.

Today, you'll taste the true atmosphere of high-altitude mountaineering, as we'll sleep in tents and enjoy a meal prepared by an experienced chef.

  • Day 14:

Island Peak Base Camp - Island Peak, 4-6 hrs, 6187 m

We start our mountain action. After breakfast, we'll start our ascent, checking our movement in high-altitude gear.

If the weather conditions are favorable, we'll start the climb very early the next day. We'll reach the summit after about 5 hours of climbing.

The views are absolutely spectacular - Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Makalu, and Baruntse are within reach.

With good conditions and feeling well, we'll descend to Chukhung later the same day.
